Confession time: Mark and I have been running out of food. We’ve been gratefully accepting invitations to eat out in the last week to stretch our food. Several days ago we ran out of meat. We’re out of fruit, vegetables, milk, bread. The cats ran out of food yesteday and we had $7.51 in coins that we took to Safeway to buy them food. We were $.31 short (we never know how to figure sales tax here) and a woman behind us paid it. She said she’s been there before. We’ve been praying blessings on her ever since. Continue reading

The birds
We woke up this morning to the sound of birds singing. “So what?” you may be wondering. In the whole time we’ve been here, we’ve never heard birds particularly sing the sun up. Continue reading
Blest be the tie that binds
Mark and I attended Saratoga Federated Church this morning. The final hymn was Blest Be the Tie That Binds and the final verse especially spoke to me:

Home for the holiday
This evening after work, Mark and I fed our kitties, cleaned their litter box, loaded the car, and left them behind. They will be in good hands, though, as Beth said she would take care of them while we are gone. Continue reading
