A year ago at this time, we were selling Christmas trees in Texas. We had lost our ability to smell the trees, we were sick of Christmas carols, and we were feeling like Scrooge. It was the worst Christmas either of us has ever had, and it left a bad taste in our mouths. Continue reading

I want to do it all!
This morning we met with Mary Beth and she took us on a tour of all the places we’ll be cleaning. When we first talked with her in our phone interview, she said we’d be cleaning the bath houses, and I thought she said we’d be cleaning the activity center. Today I realized she said the activity centers! Remember all those shops I mentioned before? The lapidary shop, the stained glass shop, the art center, etc, etc? No wonder it’s going to be a forty hour a week job! Continue reading
Just another day in paradise
This morning I loaded up my sewing machine again and walked over to Woodland Hall. I had seen a fiber arts class listed. A couple of the women who had been in the sewing group yesterday were also here. Continue reading
Checking things out
I actually got up before Mark this morning and left him sleeping while I tried to attend an early morning walking session. I got to Woodland Hall where we were supposed to meet, only to discover that it was called off due to a meeting in the building. I decided to take my own walk around the park and see the end we haven’t gotten to yet. (Did I mention there are 1500 sites here?) Continue reading
Settling in
A couple people have asked me if we’ve checked the bathrooms here yet. No, we have not. I am told they are nice. For some reason, we haven’t been that curious about them yet. Continue reading
From Florence, SC
There really isn’t much to tell about today. We left Stone Mountain this morning and headed east on I-20. We made a stop for gas and a stop at Walmart. It rained a good part of the day. I have a picture of us crossing the border: Continue reading
From Brunswick, GA
We crossed two state borders today, skipping over South Carolina. We will be back in a week or so, but we are in a hurry to spend Thanksgiving with my cousin and his family in Orlando tomorrow. By the way, Happy Thanksgiving to you all. I trust you will be with family and enjoying the food, the fellowship, and “the game” (whichever one you watch). Continue reading
From Norfolk, VA
I tried to suggest a different order to our travel today. We were going to be traveling through Colonial Williamsburg on our way to our campsite, so I suggested we stop there with RV and all. I knew they’d have parking for RV’s. I wanted Mark to see it in the daylight. In retrospect, perhaps not one of my better ideas. Continue reading
From LeRoy, NY
It was sad to leave our friends in Pennsylvania and travel on, but Mark and I decided we’re just going to have to come back again sometime. We still have friends and family ahead to see. Continue reading
A promise for spring
We have told everyone around here that we’re coming back next spring. Why? Let me count the reasons why: Continue reading
