Only a week behind…
OK, so this happened last weekend: We had the annual staff and seasonal spring potluck. Usually they try to have it in May or early June when more of the staff can be available, but this time it was difficult for everyone to coordinate their schedule, so Mark and I and Chris and Deb were the only staff members who were able to attend. Here are the pictures: Continue reading
God’s bountiful provision
When I was young, about forty years ago, there was a series of record albums (remember those?) called Environments. The creator of the albums would go to some remote place like the ocean or a lake during a storm and record the sounds. Each side of the album would play about half an hour of whatever the microphone caught and for that glorious amount of time, you could be transported there within the confines of your own home. Mother’s Day and the Big 6-0
Yesterday was Mother’s Day and I should have wished all you mothers out there a happy one, but I was too busy enjoying mine. Sorry! Today was my 60th birthday. It was relatively normal with some special elements. I have pictures from both days, although my pictures from today were taken on my phone and the quality isn’t quite as good. Continue reading

A sort of fasting and a pouring down of blessings
Yesterday (Monday) Mark had an orientation at the VA in the morning and I slept in. When I got up I waited till a reasonable hour Pacific Time and called my older sister to discuss some neat things I’ve been learning in my women’s Bible study. While I talked with her on the phone I had cold pizza from the day before and a Coke. After Mark’s orientation, he went to McDonalds for lunch and then made a couple “guy” stops. Little did we know that those lunches would be the last real meals we’d have for over 24 hours. Continue reading
Farmer’s market
For those of you in colder climes who are starved for color and light, we went with Steve and Bernice to their favorite farmer’s market this morning and I took lots of pictures. Continue reading
The Warbird Air Museum
Mark and I slept in this morning, and when we got up and ready we called my cousin, Steve. He and Bernice came to spend the day with us to do whatever we wanted to do. Mark wanted to see the Warbird Air Museum. Continue reading
From Norfolk, VA
I tried to suggest a different order to our travel today. We were going to be traveling through Colonial Williamsburg on our way to our campsite, so I suggested we stop there with RV and all. I knew they’d have parking for RV’s. I wanted Mark to see it in the daylight. In retrospect, perhaps not one of my better ideas. Continue reading
Last day on the job
The last campers pulled out (supposedly) by noon today and then it was time to do closing procedures. The part Mark and I played in it was to bring all the soap and shampoo dispensers and cleaners up to the main building to empty them into bottles so they won’t freeze this winter. Then we washed the dispensers out and put all the used rags through the washer and drier. We emptied the garbages, turned off the heat and locked the doors. What a joy to be done for this season!
