We have hot and cold running water for the first time in a week. Praise the Lord! We took a shower in the bath house before church, and when we got home from church Mark worked on the plumbing and finally got everything running. It’s lovely to be able to flush the toilet and wash dishes again. In fact, the first thing I did when Mark told me it was working was get a big glass of water to make lemonade. I was thirsty! Second Sunday of Advent
This morning we were out of propane in our external tank (it seems to go faster in the cold weather) and our hot water pipes were frozen. Our water tank which can be used with a water pump was a fifty gallon block of ice. I ended up walking across the snow to get to the bath house across the street to take a shower for church. Continue reading
The first Sunday of Advent
This morning Dale LaFrance preached about the timing of Christ’s birth. I found it very interesting and thought I’d share it with you. Continue reading
Body and soul
I can’t begin to say how wonderful it is to have Sundays off. Today we nourished our spirits and our bodies. Continue reading
Exploration – ATTN: Jamey!
This morning we tried Crosspoint Community Church which is only a few blocks away from us. It meets on the bottom floor of a dance studio so it already doesn’t look much like a church, but the people also dressed very casually. There are probably about twenty or thirty people in the congregation. The band isn’t the best, but at least they did a mix of modern choruses and hymns with a beat. The sermon was adequate. It was no Saratoga Federated, but then again, it wasn’t like the churches I tried in Gore. The people were friendly and I could settle there for a month and a half. Continue reading
From Salt Lake City, UT; Part II
This morning we set the alarm and got up early for a day of touring. The LDS church provides a free shuttle that stops at the airport and at our KOA and picks people up to take them to Temple Square for however long they want. We went into the KOA office a little before 9:00 and asked them to call the shuttle, and in less than ten minutes it was here. The driver was a really nice elderly man who was a little hard of hearing. Continue reading
Home repairs
Yesterday we broke camp to drive up the hill and fill our propane tank. It’s a rather arduous procedure that includes putting the cats in our car because no living thing is supposed to be in the RV when they’re filling the propane. We have to bring in the slide-out and the awnings and lift up the levelers. Mark also attached the nozzle that will allow us to use an external propane tank from now on so we won’t have to break camp every time we need propane. Continue reading
Visiting the big city and a little church
Tomorrow (the 14th) is Mark’s birthday, so I told him we could go look for his present today since we go back to work tomorrow. He has been wanting a big wind chime with a deep tone for most of the time I’ve been with him, so I looked online to try to find stores in the area that sell wind chimes. Continue reading
Hidden treasure!
We were going to stay home and work on laundry and stuff today, but we needed to make a phone call and our cell phone wasn’t getting reception so we drove into Gore. We were there around lunch time and Mark thought he remembered seeing a hamburger place in Gore, so we went looking for it. Continue reading
Our first “Sunday” in Gore
Today was the second day of our weekend. I can hardly wait for it to be over so we can get back to work. How many times in my life has anyone heard me say that? 😉 Continue reading
