On our first day off, Tuesday, Mark wanted to go to the VA in Muskogee because he thought he’d heard that they were going to be showing some trikes that disabled veterans could get. They showed us one since we asked, but mostly what it was was a program where they had ping pong and boccia ball to play to get disabled veterans more active. Continue reading
One down; four to go!
Today was our Friday and we worked really hard. We started out by cleaning the club house and the reunion hall, but this afternoon we also raked pine needles and took them out to the burn pile. I popped a blister on my right hand. Continue reading
The beginning of the end
This weekend begins the five weeks of the Trail of Terror that mark our last five weeks in Oklahoma. Last night all the Workampers walked through the trail to see what it will look like in the dark. Mark and I were instructed on what to do in the upside down room to which we’ve been assigned. Continue reading
End of the summer surprise!
The last couple days we’ve had to turn the heat on for a few minutes in the morning for the first time in months. The temperatures still got up into the 80’s and 90’s by the afternoon. I guess next weekend they’re predicting it will drop into the 70’s. Continue reading
Update on Mark
We are beginning to have three day weekends at work, and this weekend has been mostly spent at the VA in Muskogee. Well, I should say that we had a day of rest on Wednesday, but Thursday and Friday were medically intensive. Continue reading

La pelicula es fin!
Our co-workers took today off so they could throw a baby shower for a family member, and at first I was thinking, “How could you leave us on our busiest day?” Actually, we didn’t have many people in today. This was the slowest Saturday I’ve seen here since last spring. Continue reading
Now I’ve seen everything!
Yesterday Melanie told Mark and me she wanted us to put up new rules in all the cabins and lodges. I had seen inside some of the cabins when I was helping with housekeeping last spring, but this gave me an opportunity to go inside every single place. Continue reading
In the woods
Mark and I spent today working on the Trail of Terror. Our last five weekends here will be devoted to Halloween, and the Trail of Terror is apparently the biggest event of the year. It’s a long trail through a wooded area on the edge of Marval’s property. There are a number of terrifying things along the trail. Continue reading
Shorter hours; short-timers
Today we were sent home two hours early. This is the beginning of having our hours cut because we have fewer campers. Continue reading
