The last few days Rose has allowed me to work half days so that I could spend time getting my house in order. Today Mark took off for half a day as well and we drove over to Jerry’s shop so that Mark could change the oil and the oil filter on the RV. It was a complicated matter of unhooking everything, pulling in the slides, and then hooking everything back up and putting the slides out again. We invited Miss Rose over to see our place all clean and ready tonight. Continue reading

Easy come, easy go
Just a quick update: My friend, Wendy, took us out to breakfast this morning and then she headed home. I got word from her tonight that she made it home safely. Thank you, Wendy, for coming up, and thank you, Aunt Marg, for hosting her. Continue reading
…She chortled in her joy.
This morning Mark and I picked my friend, Wendy, up at Aunt Marg’s house — they had been having a good visit — and took her with us to my hand surgeon appointment. He has got to be the fastest doctor in the world. (He doesn’t even close the office door!) He took the Band-Aid off my wrist, asked if I wanted him to operate on my other wrist, and when I said I wasn’t sure, he said, “Call me when you decide,” and I was out the door! Continue reading
Oh frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!
After church this morning, Mark and I had a light lunch and then went over to Aunt Marg’s house for the rest of the day. My best friend from high school, Wendy Scharich, was going to drive up to spend some time with me, and Marg graciously offered her guest bedroom for Wendy to stay in. Continue reading

End of the summer surprise!
The last couple days we’ve had to turn the heat on for a few minutes in the morning for the first time in months. The temperatures still got up into the 80’s and 90’s by the afternoon. I guess next weekend they’re predicting it will drop into the 70’s. Continue reading
A tribute to Igal Koshevoy
A friend of Jamey’s, and in fact a friend to the community of techno-geeks in Portland, recently died. Jamey sent me the link to Igal’s memorial service. So many wonderful stories were told at the memorial service, and it gave me pause to reflect on life. Continue reading
Cherokee Nation
This morning Mark and I led Clyde and Kathy to the VA in Muskogee. We left early so we could go to the Five Civilized Tribes Museum. I mentioned yesterday that Clyde has Cherokee blood, but I forgot that Kathy has Native American blood as well. I think her grandmother was Shawnee. Continue reading
Taking an early weekend
