Last Wednesday Mark had an appointment for a massage by a young woman Rose had told us about. The young woman’s name is Amy and her mother is Kris. Kris runs a B&B near Moon Lake, about fifteen miles west of Tok. Mark had a wonderful massage and said that I would get one as soon as I am well. Continue reading

On the mend… physically and spiritually
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you to all of you who sent well wishes and prayers for me. Tonight I feel almost human again and I’ve been told by an on-call nurse that I am no longer contagious, even though I’m still sniffling and sneezing and coughing. Tomorrow I’m going to try half a day at work and see how I do. Poor Miss Rose has had to cover for me too long! Continue reading
Friday the 13th – our lucky day!
I’m breaking with tradition and writing about a day before it even happens because I know I’ll be too busy to write tomorrow! Continue reading
Moving day!
When we first started talking with Rose about coming to Tok and working in this RV park, we asked her if she had any 50 amp sites. She said she did, but she wasn’t here when we arrived, so we were put in a 30 amp site. Mark began talking with our boss, Mike, about it and yesterday they found a site they could spare for us. House church in Tok
We have a list of churches in Tok and several nearby villages, but the list doesn’t give addresses. It gives phone numbers, so last night Mark called the contact person for the Tok LDS church. They are a house church. Continue reading
Happy Easter!
I know that most of you won’t get this in time for Easter, so happy belated Easter. This evening we took Aunt Marg to see Heaven is for Real. It’s based on a book by a pastor named Todd Burpo. Reverend Burpo tells the story of his four year old son, Colton, who had a near fatal illness and came back saying he’d been to heaven. If you haven’t seen this movie or read the book, I highly recommend it. Continue reading
Thanksgiving and dancing for joy!
I just realized I haven’t written in nearly a week. It’s not that I haven’t had things to write about, but I’ve been busy experiencing things to write about. Continue reading
Superbowl Sunday
This morning we went to church at Christ the King Church in Lynden. This is the church my cousin, Dan, and his family go to, although we didn’t see them there this morning. Continue reading
Bribery?
This morning, besides going to Mark’s church, we tried the church I remember going to with my relatives when I was a kid. It’s Sunrise Baptist Church. Continue reading
A Sunday drive
Conversation heard at 2nd Christian Reformed Church between two attractive young women this morning: “I was wearing my tights and some snow boots because it was cold, and my dad was watching the guys around me and he told me to change because he didn’t like the way they were looking at me. I said, ‘Dad, it’s just the fashion!’ and he said, ‘I don’t care. They aren’t looking at the fashion.’ So I figured, he is my dad and I changed.” I haven’t heard that anywhere else we’ve been, not even in the Bible belt! Continue reading
