From South Haven, MI

We left the Indianapolis area this morning, and instead of traveling on the freeway, we took US-31 north past Kokomo and South Bend.  On this route we were traveling through more rural settings and it was peaceful. Continue reading

From Madison, FL

I want to thank all my new Sun N Fun readers for the warm send-off you gave us.  So many of you came by as we were packing up and getting ready to leave.  Your heartfelt farewells and “Have a safe trip” wishes were much appreciated.  We didn’t get out of Sun N Fun till 2:00 this afternoon.  I think that’s the latest we’ve ever started out from a job site, but there were so many of you who said you’ll miss us.  It kind of put a lump in my throat! A sort of fasting and a pouring down of blessings

Yesterday (Monday) Mark had an orientation at the VA in the morning and I slept in.  When I got up I waited till a reasonable hour Pacific Time and called my older sister to discuss some neat things I’ve been learning in my women’s Bible study.  While I talked with her on the phone I had cold pizza from the day before and a Coke.  After Mark’s orientation, he went to McDonalds for lunch and then made a couple “guy” stops.  Little did we know that those lunches would be the last real meals we’d have for over 24 hours. From Stone Mountain, GA

I had never heard of Stone Mountain, GA before we started planning this trip, but it was a place Mark wanted to see.  It just so happened that I have another friend I had never met before who lives on the opposite side of Atlanta and he and his wife were free to meet us tonight.  Here are today’s pictures: Continue reading

From Harper’s Ferry, WV

In 1976, when my family came to Harper’s Ferry, it was dusk, but I had the impression that it was a beautiful, quaint little town.  I seem destined to arrive here at dusk, but I had a very good reason for arriving at dusk this time… Continue reading

Arlington National Cemetery and Second chapter of Acts

Today was a spiritual day in many ways.  I wanted to take Mark to Arlington National Cemetery today while we finally had full sun and then Denise Fuller invited me to an Acts 2 event that friends of hers had invited her to.  Mark and I both had a sense of reverence all day. Continue reading

From Andrews AFB, MD

It’s been kind of an exciting day.  The most exciting part was getting to hear the voice of my twin, Denise Fuller, on the other end of my phone line this evening!  We are in Maryland near Washington DC and we will have five days here to explore and also to spend time with her.  She and I have never met yet, but we’ve been emailing each other for about a year and a half and becoming fast friends.  I’ll get into that more in the next few days.  In the meantime, here’s today’s news… Continue reading

From Elgin, IL

We got a really late start today, plus the fact that we needed to stop for groceries in Sturgeon Bay, so we entered Illinois in the dark.  We got to the campground we were hoping to stay in and at first we saw a closed sign and were afraid we were too late.  Fortunately we found out that only the Burnidge Forest Preserve was closed but the campground was still open.  We were so grateful! Last day on the job

The last campers pulled out (supposedly) by noon today and then it was time to do closing procedures.  The part Mark and I played in it was to bring all the soap and shampoo dispensers and cleaners up to the main building to empty them into bottles so they won’t freeze this winter.  Then we washed the dispensers out and put all the used rags through the washer and drier.  We emptied the garbages, turned off the heat and locked the doors.  What a joy to be done for this season!
