Car show

This has been our first big weekend of the season at Wagon Trail Campground. Yesterday (Saturday) Mark and I had an inkling that the bathrooms were going to be full when we did our morning rounds, so we started half an hour earlier.  The bathrooms were crowded and we were barely able to do our job, so this morning we tried going in at 7:00.  They were still crowded, and Mark and I were both dragging all day from lack of sleep.  We have finally decided that there’s no beating the mad rush for the showers, so from now on we’ll stick to checking at 8:00 just deal with the crowds as best we can. I knew there was something special about this place!

A couple days ago I went “visiting” to my new neighbors and co-workers.  I got to go inside Judy’s and Susan’s RVs, and as I was leaving Susan’s she said she had to plant some flowers in her yard.  I realized she was talking about the area outside her RV and I had an epiphany… Continue reading →

Grocery stores

This is just a quicky about grocery stores.  I had mentioned that the Pioneer Store is probably the closest to us, but it’s not big enough to have all the things we need so we never go there.  We’ve been going to Piggly Wiggly.  I hadn’t been in one of those since I was growing up in Vancouver, WA.  That and Shopko (which is more a department store than a grocery store) have been our stores in Sister Bay since we’ve been here.  When we’re down in Sturgeon Bay we go to Walmart. Happy Mother’s Day (belated)

It’s been a busy weekend.  Between work and my birthday on Saturday (for which our boss got donuts and a card signed by all the employees — even the ones who aren’t here yet and whose signatures look suspiciously alike!), and then church and Mother’s Day, I haven’t had time to write.  I still don’t, but I did want to wish my readers who are mothers a belated Happy Mother’s Day.

Opening day!

Considering how much we had cleaned the last two days, we were only expected to do a quick walk through at 8:00 this morning, noon, and 8:00 this evening.  When we finished our noon rounds, Tim asked if we’d like to work more this afternoon.  The person who cleans the yurts is either not here yet or hasn’t started, and Tim needed help so we agreed to help right after lunch.   Continue reading →

Second day of training

After my last post with pictures, one of my readers asked me what the purpose of hex signs are on a barn.  There is some disagreement as to whether there is some meaning to them or whether they are just decorations.  If anyone else is curious, here is a link to a Wikipedia article on hex signs:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hex_sign.
