Work and school

If you’ve been following for the last few weeks, you know that I’ve been trying to get hired as a receptionist (or client services professional) at H&R Block for several weeks now.  I had the paperwork finished, but because the district manager died last month of a heart attack, my paperwork ended up getting booted out of the system.  The manager at the Tigard office, Diane, has been helping me get back into the system and I was finally hired on Monday, the 9th.  Tuesday was my first full day of work. We’re certified!

Our boss is the greatest!  Kathy paid for everyone on staff who wanted to to get trained as a Certified Tourism Ambassador (CTA).  Mark and I went through the training today at The Clearing in Ellison Bay.  But first, a woman from The Clearing gave us a tour of the campus. Continue reading

From South Haven, MI

We left the Indianapolis area this morning, and instead of traveling on the freeway, we took US-31 north past Kokomo and South Bend.  On this route we were traveling through more rural settings and it was peaceful. Continue reading

MCC and Gettysburg

This morning Mark and I headed to Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) where Sue was going to show us around.  On our way, we noticed that many on the homes had clothes hanging on clotheslines.  Apparently, Mondays are wash days. Continue reading

2nd Annual NRVIA Conference: Day 2

This being Sunday, today began with Scripture reading and prayer.  I just can’t get over the fact that Steve and Coop are so open about this organization being built on faith in God.  How many organizations that aren’t specifically church related actually include God in the course of their business meetings?  I admire them for doing this. 2nd Annual NRVIA Conference: Day 1

We all arrived at 8:00 this morning to the Heber Springs Community Center where the conference is being held.  The doors weren’t open yet so we all mingled in the hallways and looked at the vendor tables.  They finally opened the doors around 8:45 and I found a table near the front so I could see without a lot of heads in my way.
