I slept in until after 10:00 this morning. Mark had to come in and wake me up. He said I slept through a doozy of a storm last night with lightning that lit up the whole bedroom and crashing thunder. I didn’t hear a thing. When we go west, we gain two hours, but when we go east, we lose two hours. Add that to the late nights I’ve been keeping, and you can understand why I was so tired yesterday and last night.

From Bartlesville, OK

Last night we slept with the windows open all night, and this morning we kept hearing an occasional Thwok! sound.  We figured out it was a bird trying to get in our window, but we couldn’t actually see him till we sat down for breakfast.  He came right up and sat on our window ledge for probably half a minute or so, having a good look at us as though we were animals in the zoo.  We said hello to him and he flew into the tree next to our window. We planned a short day of travel today and it was a good thing.  This morning Mark was catching a heavy crosswind from the southeast that made driving difficult.  We stopped once to get gas and a little after that we stopped at a rest area so he could relax his grip.  Fortunately, as soon as we left the rest area the highway turned southeast so the wind wasn’t hitting us broadside.
