Nate’s story: part 3

Here is the third part of Nate’s story.  In this section, he mentions that the VHS band won state.  He is referring to his school, Vernonia High School, and the band he is in that won a statewide school band competition last year.  His original school was flooded and while a new one was being built, classes were held in modular buildings.  He refers to that in this section too. Family visit

My mother, both sisters, and one of my brother-in-laws came down yesterday for a 2 1/2 day visit.  They arrived last evening and made dinner for us at our place.  You’ve heard the expression, “Too many cooks spoil the broth.”  Well, the broth was fine, but too many cooks in an RV kitchen was kind of tough!  We sat around and told stories Continue reading

Highway patrol

Four times a year, there’s a day when all those Adopt-a-highway people are supposed to go out and clean their section of highway.  Today was the day here.  Workampers from the Los Altos Rod and Gun Club are responsible for cleaning Skyline Blvd one mile in each direction from our driveway.  I was looking forward to helping with it, but I Continue reading

Church #3

Mark had to get up extra early for work this morning, so I got up with him.  At the last minute I decided to change the order of the churches I still want to visit, and it’s a good thing I did.  This morning I drove nearly 50 miles to attend a Mennonite church in San Francisco.  As it turns out, if I’d waited till next week, I would have gotten to that address and they wouldn’t have been there!  They’re meeting in a park next week.
