I want to do it all!

This morning we met with Mary Beth and she took us on a tour of all the places we’ll be cleaning.  When we first talked with her in our phone interview, she said we’d be cleaning the bath houses, and I thought she said we’d be cleaning the activity center.  Today I realized she said the activity centers!  Remember all those shops I mentioned before?  The lapidary shop, the stained glass shop, the art center, etc, etc?  No wonder it’s going to be a forty hour a week job! Checking things out

I actually got up before Mark this morning and left him sleeping while I tried to attend an early morning walking session.  I got to Woodland Hall where we were supposed to meet, only to discover that it was called off due to a meeting in the building.  I decided to take my own walk around the park and see the end we haven’t gotten to yet.  (Did I mention there are 1500 sites here?) From Stone Mountain, GA

I had never heard of Stone Mountain, GA before we started planning this trip, but it was a place Mark wanted to see.  It just so happened that I have another friend I had never met before who lives on the opposite side of Atlanta and he and his wife were free to meet us tonight.  Here are today’s pictures: Continue reading

George Washington’s Mt Vernon

I had been to Mt Vernon with my family for the Bicentennial in the spring of 1976.  I remember stepping out of the car in the parking lot and smelling the most fragrant magnolias I have ever smelled.  Going in late fall is different, but there were other differences too.  They have continued renovating and researching the site, so taking Mark to see it today, we both had new things to learn. From Fort Dix, NJ

Oy vey!  Such a day we’ve had!  I had not mentioned last night that we were camping in a rest area.  I had discovered when I was planning this trip, that some rest areas are set up for overnight camping and have dump stations.  They are free!  It was unfortunate that the camper next to us made a lot of noise around 2:00 AM before pulling out.  Still, it was a worthy experiment.
