How we spent the 4th of July
Yesterday (July 4th), Mark and I worked so hard that I wasn’t up to writing last night, but I have pictures to show how we spent our day off work. Continue reading
Learning experiences
Yesterday (Monday), I had my interview with Karen at Tea Thyme. They had their Grand Opening last Saturday for the tea room and it was also open on Sunday. Over the weekend, Karen and Lynn realized they will need more help, so they are giving me more hours. As a result, I will be working twenty-two hours at Tea Thyme and about sixteen hours at Seaquist. It’s a nice blend of jobs. Continue reading
An interesting turn of events
Tuesday and Wednesday were my days off, and that’s when I did all the job hunting I wrote about in my last post. I believe I have been hired at Tea Thyme In Door County which is owned by the women that live across the street from us. I’m to meet with Karen on Monday morning at 10:00 to firm that up a bit. So far, they are talking about needing me for ten hours a week in the mornings. Continue reading
Feathering our nest
My friends, Kathryn and Judy, came over this morning and picked me up to go thrift shopping. Judy had given me a gift certificate at Bargains Unlimited for a housewarming gift so I asked her to help me spend it! Continue reading
House dedication

We cleaned and prepared food and got ready for people to come to our house dedication which we had told everyone would start at 2:00. Our first guests arrived at 2:45. Continue reading
Staging
You know you have a good friend when she calls you up and asks if she can help you clean up for your party. I have such a friend in Kathy Plahmer. I was feeling overwhelmed by all I had yet to do and she calmly put things in order for me. Bless you, my dear! Continue reading
Priming
Yesterday morning, I got up and looked at the bedroom walls after we had skim coated them and was disappointed to see that the holes still showed. Last night, we skim coated them again.
Shopping!
I had saved about $600 from my pay at H&R Block with which to get furniture. I figured it might be enough to get me a dining room table and chairs, and hopefully a small dresser as well. I asked my friend, Judy Boldt, a thrift shopper extraordinaire and the president of my Wisconsin fan club, to take me thrift shopping. She has spent the last two days taking me to thrift stores from Sturgeon Bay to Sister Bay. Continue reading
