When I got to Dad’s house this morning, he was having some problems. He said that he felt weaker than he has before and he was feeling dizzy. He said that if he’s going down this rapidly, he doesn’t think he has long to live.

The week I was staying with Dad and Elaine, I asked my friend, Wendy, if she would like to go see the last 2 episodes of season 4 of The Chosen in the theater with me. I could tell from the way she answered that she would do it for me, but if she were choosing a movie, that wouldn’t be one she would choose. When I moved to Mom’s house, I told her that I was able to get around some with Mom’s car and she didn’t have to see the movie with me, but she said she would still do it. It turned out that the closest theater was only going to be showing it through tomorrow, so we decided this morning to go this afternoon.

Today we had a visit from the hospice nurse. His name is Steve. Everyone from hospice has come in wearing a mask, but when he was outside our door, he removed his mask so we could see the face behind the voice!

The first couple of mornings after Dad got home from the hospital, I got up first thing in the morning to start helping to take care of him, but I was getting behind on my quiet time with the Lord, so I have gotten back to spending the first part of my morning in my room reading my Bible and praying. I think that time has been important for self-care and helping me focus on what’s important throughout the day.

This morning, my sister and her family came over to help take Dad to church along with his wheelchair, but by the time we finally arrived, the congregation was singing the last worship song, and then they were having Mission Sunday. Dad was disappointed that it wasn’t going to be a regular church service, so after about 20 minutes of being there, he decided he wanted to go home. There was a clan gathering to get ready for.

I had opened the front blinds so that I could see when Dad was brought home this morning. Finally, a big van pulled up and I went out to meet Dad. He was sitting up in a wheelchair and had been directing the driver to his house!
