Saturday, October 26th:

Oh-oh!  I must have forgotten to set the alarm last night.  We’re an hour late getting up, but we still manage to hustle and make it to Activities before the 9:00 opening time. Continue reading →

Yesterday everything was on target for working on the Trail of Terror.  It drizzled a little bit in the morning, but by afternoon the weather was pretty good, and after sunset the moon and some stars were visible.  However, Mark and I viewed the night sky on our way home from the Salisaw Hospital. Today was our Friday and we worked really hard.  We started out by cleaning the club house and the reunion hall, but this afternoon we also raked pine needles and took them out to the burn pile.  I popped a blister on my right hand.  Continue reading →

This weekend begins the five weeks of the Trail of Terror that mark our last five weeks in Oklahoma.  Last night all the Workampers walked through the trail to see what it will look like in the dark.  Mark and I were instructed on what to do in the upside down room to which we’ve been assigned. The last couple days we’ve had to turn the heat on for a few minutes in the morning for the first time in months.  The temperatures still got up into the 80’s and 90’s by the afternoon.  I guess next weekend they’re predicting it will drop into the 70’s. Continue reading →

The farming news

I need to amend a couple things I’ve written previously.  First of all, when I said that maybe only the first mowing is good for making hay bales, I was wrong.  Now that summer is almost over, the last mowing has been turned into hay bales around us as well. Continue reading →

Our co-workers took today off so they could throw a baby shower for a family member, and at first I was thinking, “How could you leave us on our busiest day?”  Actually, we didn’t have many people in today.  This was the slowest Saturday I’ve seen here since last spring. Continue reading →
