Today was a day of remembering our Vacation From Hell. Many of you will remember that as well, but I’ll retell it for the newcomers. Remember: The first part is just a retelling, so don’t panic! Continue reading

Urgent prayer request
We are still in sunny California this morning, but Mark heard today that I-40 is closed between Albuquerque and Amarillo due to snow. Would those of you who pray please pray that the roads clear up by the time we get there? Thanks!
From Tulare, CA
We waited around the RV park in Redding till the office opened at 8:00 this morning. They were serving continental breakfast. I was really touched by something I witnessed there. Continue reading

Mark and I set the alarm and got up at 6:15 this morning. By 7:00 we had said our goodbyes to my sister and her husband and we went two different directions. Mark went to dump the tanks on the RV and I did a little bit of grocery shopping. We met at Reedwood Friends Church where we’d left our tow dolly and got the car loaded onto it. We left at 9:00. Mark and I are parked in my sister, Sherill’s, driveway for the duration. (That phrase — “For the duration” — is, I believe, from WWII.) We will be here until we leave for Oklahoma. Continue reading

I hope you all had a Happy Valentines Day yesterday. Mark and I went to the restaurant where we took my pastor after he married us in Clackamette Park. We were remembering that after we were married and we took him out for dessert he said, “Well, now that I’ve married you, I should ask some questions.” He did the whole pre-marital counseling thing after the fact! Reassessing our needs
My brother-in-law loaned us his truck today so that we could take some things they were storing for us to our storage unit. We took the opportunity to again give thought to what we need to have with us and what we want to keep in storage. Continue reading
From Silver Falls State Park in Oregon
There’s not a lot to write about today except that all prayers for our safety as we crossed the mountains were answered. The funniest thing that happened was when we stopped for gas the first time in Oregon and I was looking to see how much the sales tax was on the receipt. I had to remind myself that there is no sales tax here and we don’t have to pump our own gas either! Continue reading
From Mt. Shasta, CA
We got up early this morning and Mark unhooked the water and electric we had been using at the Los Gatos Rod & Gun Club. Our biggest concern about today was getting down off the mountain. We had decided that Mark would drive the RV down with the tow dolly, and I would follow in the car. Mark took it very slowly, and several times we had to pull over to let traffic go by. The cats were in their carriers for this part of the trip. Continue reading
Last day in Los Gatos
Today there was still a little to be done to prepare for leaving, but we took some time off to do something fun. Continue reading
