From Silver Falls State Park in Oregon

There’s not a lot to write about today except that all prayers for our safety as we crossed the mountains were answered.  The funniest thing that happened was when we stopped for gas the first time in Oregon and I was looking to see how much the sales tax was on the receipt.  I had to remind myself that there is no sales tax here and we don’t have to pump our own gas either!

We finished And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie and I started reading The Lord God Made Them All by James Herriot.  I figured that would be a good one to read, not knowing how far we might get into the book, because each chapter is a self-contained story.  It’s fun to hear Mark laugh at the situations Jim gets into, and Mark has also picked up a bit of brogue from it.

We got to Silver Falls State Park near Salem just as the sun was going down, so since it was still light, Mark got us situated better than we were last night.  The slide-out is out and the RV is level.  Because Mark is a disabled vet and has an Oregon state park pass, we are able to stay here for free for the next few days.   We’ll be making forays into the Portland area anyway.  We’ll see all our Oregon friends and family soon!
