This morning was the highlight of the whole day. We met a second cousin of mine, Andrea Brim, for breakfast. She suggested we meet at the restaurant on the top floor of IKEA. We got a really late start today, plus the fact that we needed to stop for groceries in Sturgeon Bay, so we entered Illinois in the dark. We got to the campground we were hoping to stay in and at first we saw a closed sign and were afraid we were too late. Fortunately we found out that only the Burnidge Forest Preserve was closed but the campground was still open. We were so grateful! Continue reading

I have been really stressed lately about the fact that we didn’t have a job lined up for this winter. Our job here ends on October 19th and the only jobs I was finding offered no pay other than a site for our RV or they were in the wrong part of the country. I had originally thought I wanted to be in Mississippi or Alabama this winter, but when I couldn’t find work there I expanded to the entire southeastern United States. I put our resume out and made inquiries and no one responded. Continue reading

Yesterday Mark and I had to make a business trip to Port Washington. Yes, we can now say we’re making business trips. We drove 300 miles round trip to get a toilet! (It’s a long story.) Continue reading
So far we have done all our Door County exploration on the peninsula, but there is an island off the tip of the peninsula that is part of Door County as well. On Wednesday we took the ferry there and spent the day exploring the island. It took me all that evening to download, edit and export the pictures we had taken, so today I can finally write about it. The day that Mom and I returned from Klamath Falls, I spent the night with my older sister Sherill, but I was too exhausted by the end of the day to write. Then yesterday I flew home and there was the long drive home and the reunion with Mark, so I didn’t get to write.
