I was too tired and sore to write last night. Linda and I were assigned to give a thorough cleaning to the Activity Center and the Arcade. Mark worked with the Maintenance crew. Continue reading

One of the perks of working here…
Rather than putting Linda in Housekeeping this afternoon, they asked Mark to work with the Maintenance crew because they had to lift one of the cabins four inches. So while he was working with the men, Linda got to stay and help me get set up for next weekend. Continue reading
Around the park
The river is rising. For those of you in other parts of the country, you may have a better idea than I do what’s going on north of us. I don’t tend to keep up with the national news and weather reports, but I assume there’s been heavy precipitation north of us because the dam was filled to within a few inches of the top, so they’ve been releasing water. As a result, our river is higher than I’ve ever seen it. I’ll try to get a picture to include in this blog. Continue reading
Great day!
I don’t know what’s going on this weekend, but there are a bunch of kids here. We had a great day! Continue reading
First Azalea Festival weekend
Marval doesn’t expect as many campers in April, so they lumped three weeks under the theme of the Azalea Festival — which isn’t even here in the park, or as far as I can see, in Gore. Great balls of fire!
As I write, we are directly in a lightning storm. I mean, there’s no counting 1-1000, 2-1000… for this one. The whole area around us turns as bright as day for a few seconds and then there’s a crack and a rumble that rattles the floor beneath us. It keeps going every five seconds or so. Rain is pounding down on top of us. I’ve never seen anything like this! Continue reading
Gore: the trout fishing capital of Oklahoma
Gore is such a small town that I think it mainly survives because of the folks Marval Resort brings in. Being right on the river, Marval caters to a lot of fishermen. The city stocks the river with trout and Marval has special events for the fishermen who come. All of this relies on the water in the river. Continue reading
Go fly a kite!
Yesterday was kite day. Mark and I had found a bunch of kite kits at the Dollar Tree in Muskogee so we bought them out. Yesterday morning we sold the kites and Mark helped the kids put them together. Then yesterday afternoon they took their kites out to the big open field and flew them. Everyone who got their kite up in the air got a prize. A fun time was had by all! Continue reading
