Brief update

Last night after we turned the weather channel and the lights off, Mark and I prayed for safety here at Marval and for Loraine and Adrian who left here to work in Coffeeville.  There was no storm last night, at least not here.  Storms are still predicted for today, but there’s a storm shelter right next to the Activity Center where we’ll be working.  Keep us in your prayers

Severe weather warning

I’m going to keep this short tonight.  One of our campers came in to pick up her family’s ceramics this evening, and as they were leaving I said, “We’ll be open again tomorrow at 8:30!”  She said, “We’re leaving early because a tornado just touched down in Edmond near our home.  We’re anxious to get back and see if we still have a roof!” Continue reading

Medieval Times Weekend

The kids that have been here all week that I thought might be Mennonite turn out to be Holiness.  I’m glad they aren’t Mennonite because yesterday the boys broke Mark’s jousting pole in front of several Workamper witnesses.  Mark built that left-handed, so he was pretty upset.  It’s fixable, but he’s waiting till just before the jousting tournament today to put it back out. Pics!

When I spoke with Jamey yesterday, he said he’d like to see more pictures of Marval.  I had mentioned last night that pictures are posted on Marval’s Facebook page, but then I got to looking at their page and it doesn’t look like they’ve posted new pictures since March 25th, so I am dedicating this blog to showing pictures from around the park. Mother’s Day Weekend

This morning was the start of Sunday morning breakfasts for the season at Marval, and it’s the only weekend when moms get to eat free with a paying family member, so Mark and I headed over so we could have breakfast at 7:30 before starting work at 8:00.  For $5.00 (the price of Mark’s meal) Mark had eggs, sausage and biscuit, and orange juice.  I had a biscuit with sausage gravy and a sausage patty as well as orange juice and chocolate milk.  It was a filling breakfast, and so nice not to have to fix breakfast and do dishes! BBQ weekend

Last night there was a barbecue and potluck in the clubhouse for all the Workampers
and seasonals (people who keep their RV parked here all season) at Marval.  I had been looking forward to this for a long time because Madilynn Stelzer, the winner of the talent show we had during spring break, came back and sang with her dad for an hour.  The clubhouse was full of people, the food was good, and the music was great.  In fact, Jason Stelzer sang a Jackson Browne song just for me!
