Happy Mother’s Day

My wish for all of you mothers out there is that your children and spouses will show their appreciation of you for Mother’s Day.  I certainly intend to tell my mother how much I appreciate her.  Love you, Mom!  😉

We had another busy day today.  This is Mother’s Day weekend, so I’ve been featuring gifts for Mom.  We’ve sold a lot of mugs that say MOM on them for the kids to paint.  We also rented a lot of bikes and golf clubs.  We sold so many tickets for the train that Mark had to add a fourth run in this afternoon and the cars were all full for most of those rides.

There is a family here this weekend that we have had to be stern with.  The youngest girl, maybe three years old, came in yesterday and tore the Activity Center apart while Mark and I were at lunch.  Linda finally had to ask the man with her to take her out.  Today the girl was back with her mother and older siblings.  While I was selling things at the cash register, the little girl was mixing several of the colors of sand on our sand table.  Her older brother tried to stop her, and her mother told him it wasn’t his job to care if the sand got mixed up!  At that point I said, “We’d prefer that she not mix the sand up” and the mother finally took her away from it.  Twice the little girl tried to run back into the store where we don’t allow customers because we have fragile ceramics on the shelves.  The second time I accidentally knocked her down while trying to catch her, and then handed her to one of my helpers who took her to the man again and asked him to take her out.  She needs to be disciplined!

It looks like I’m going to be losing one of my helpers again.  Linda’s husband came in upset today and told her he’s giving two weeks notice.  Things haven’t been going well for him in maintenance, and he also has a lot of health issues, so they’re going to go back to Arizona.  It had Linda and Cathy kind of off kilter the rest of the day.  I hope things can be better for the next two weeks.  Workampers become friendly with each other and visit with each other after hours, so something like this can be very upsetting to us all.  I feel sorry for Melanie.  She’s the one that has to keep advertizing for new help.  I wouldn’t want her job for all the tea in China!  Please pray for Melanie and Jeff.
