This morning we had a visit from the hospice social worker. She asked Dad some questions about his life and his career, and she asked him how he is feeling emotionally right now. Dad said he’s at peace about this.
Continue readingThis morning, my sister and her family came over to help take Dad to church along with his wheelchair, but by the time we finally arrived, the congregation was singing the last worship song, and then they were having Mission Sunday. Dad was disappointed that it wasn’t going to be a regular church service, so after about 20 minutes of being there, he decided he wanted to go home. There was a clan gathering to get ready for.
Continue readingFirst thing this morning, Dad’s eyes popped open and he was awake and alert. He wanted to get out of bed and go to his bathroom to get a bath and a shave and get dressed for company. It was great to see him on his feet using his walker. Elaine and I were right there in case he should fall, but he did fine. He even ate a good breakfast!
Continue readingI had opened the front blinds so that I could see when Dad was brought home this morning. Finally, a big van pulled up and I went out to meet Dad. He was sitting up in a wheelchair and had been directing the driver to his house!
Continue readingYesterday at work , I received word from my sister that Dad is being put on hospice. I left work shortly thereafter, and I caught a flight this evening to Portland.
Continue readingYesterday, after church, Northwest Community Friends Church had a Christmas Fest and invited not only our members but also the families of children our church has helped.
Continue readingWe got to our spot behind my church here in Tucson last night. I wasn’t feeling very well (I seem to have picked up a cold in the last couple of days) so I pretty much went to bed right after dinner and slept soundly through the night.
Continue readingKader’s and Zak’s wedding was in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We left there Monday morning and were in Des Moines, Iowa by that evening. I wasn’t able to write about it because I was processing about a hundred pictures I took at the wedding.
Continue readingI took so many pictures last weekend that I was still processing them through last night, so I’m finally getting around to writing a post about it. As you probably already know, my dad fell and broke a vertebra in his neck, so I’m worried about him, but we did have a good weekend with Kader and Zak and I want to honor them with this blog.
