When you have two women in the same house who love the same man and want to do him good, there can be a difference of opinion as to what that might be. After discussing things, it seemed best for me to move to Mom’s house and only be there for Dad as needed.
My intention when I flew up was to be helpful and to relieve some of Elaine’s stress, but I realize it can be stressful to have someone in your space 24/7, especially when we have occasional differences of opinion on what Dad needs. I told Elaine that I bear no hard feelings and that I want her to call me first if she needs to have someone sit with Dad so that she can run errands or get away for a few hours with friends.
Unfortunately, when I got to Mom’s house thinking that she had a bad cold, she told me she had a slight fever and she felt achy. Even though I’m wearing a mask around Mom, Lauryn thinks I shouldn’t go over to Dad’s house until I’m sure I haven’t caught what Mom has. I was thinking of helping Elaine get Dad to church on Sunday. I suppose that’s out for this weekend. Hopefully, by early next week, it will be clear that I haven’t caught the flu and I can be available to go watch Dad.
Mom was lying down when I first got here, but she got up and wanted to play Scrabble after we had lunch. We played 3 games and each won at least one. I was missing seeing Mom and playing Scrabble with her so this is a good move.
Please pray for Dad and Elaine as they are both elderly, that Dad won’t fall again so that Elaine has to try to get him up. Pray for Mom, that she can recover from this illness. Pray for me, that I can avoid getting sick so that I can help as needed. Pray for my sister, Lauryn, as she tries to gauge what’s going on up here. And pray for peace in our little part of the world.
