A surprise visitor

This morning I was working on my business plan when I saw that I had a message from Merih. He said that he was in Sister Bay and had just arrived an hour before. You could have knocked me over with a feather! Last I had heard from him and Kader a few days ago, we had all seemed to resign ourselves to the fact that they wouldn’t be able to come this summer. I also got a message from Kader that she will be arriving on the 24th if the influx of foreign students isn’t banned by Trump before then.

We almost made it!

Mark and I have this tradition we’ve been doing almost since we first bought our house. We live near the end of a long road, so when I go out to see him off to work in the morning, I stand in the road and wave to him until he turns the corner. He usually rolls his window down and reaches out to wave to me two or three times as he drives down the road.

Joining the ranks

Last week, I got word that my job at the Ellison Bay Visitor Center isn’t going to be happening this year. The economy in Door County is based on tourism, but events that involve fifty or more people gathering have been canceled for this summer. My boss at the visitor center is going to man the center by herself because there probably won’t be very many questions about events or things to see and do.
