This morning we had a visit from the hospice social worker. She asked Dad some questions about his life and his career, and she asked him how he is feeling emotionally right now. Dad said he’s at peace about this.

McCroskey clan gathering
This morning, my sister and her family came over to help take Dad to church along with his wheelchair, but by the time we finally arrived, the congregation was singing the last worship song, and then they were having Mission Sunday. Dad was disappointed that it wasn’t going to be a regular church service, so after about 20 minutes of being there, he decided he wanted to go home. There was a clan gathering to get ready for.

First thing this morning, Dad’s eyes popped open and he was awake and alert. He wanted to get out of bed and go to his bathroom to get a bath and a shave and get dressed for company. Last night, he said he’d probably spend the night in Green Bay tonight so that he could get a new set of tires for my car (I’ve had a flat tire since Thursday and haven’t been able to go anywhere). This afternoon, he texted me and said, “See you soon!”, and I said, “Like today?” He sent me a big grin!

Today was my birthday. I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, and as I was washing my hands, I was humming “Happy birthday to me!” I had to get up at 6:00 this morning to go to a tourism breakfast in Sturgeon Bay with my boss and co-workers from the Welcome Center, but it was fun. We have a new staff member and it was a good opportunity to get to know her better.
