First thing this morning, Dad’s eyes popped open and he was awake and alert. He wanted to get out of bed and go to his bathroom to get a bath and a shave and get dressed for company. It was great to see him on his feet using his walker. Elaine and I were right there in case he should fall, but he did fine. He even ate a good breakfast!

Hospice
I had opened the front blinds so that I could see when Dad was brought home this morning. Finally, a big van pulled up and I went out to meet Dad. He was sitting up in a wheelchair and had been directing the driver to his house!

We got to our spot behind my church here in Tucson last night. I wasn’t feeling very well (I seem to have picked up a cold in the last couple of days) so I pretty much went to bed right after dinner and slept soundly through the night.

Kader’s and Zak’s wedding was in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We left there Monday morning and were in Des Moines, Iowa by that evening. I wasn’t able to write about it because I was processing about a hundred pictures I took at the wedding.

As a refresher, let me tell you about my Turkish daughter, Kader. We met her 4 or 5 years ago through a Bridges program put together by the churches in northern Door County. J-1 students come here to work for the summer and their employers provide housing and a bicycle for getting around. The churches decided to pair them up with Christian families who could take them around Door County, invite them over for dinner, or take them to Bridges events that are planned to give the students a chance to meet each other and do something fun.
