The last campers pulled out (supposedly) by noon today and then it was time to do closing procedures. The part Mark and I played in it was to bring all the soap and shampoo dispensers and cleaners up to the main building to empty them into bottles so they won’t freeze this winter. Then we washed the dispensers out and put all the used rags through the washer and drier. We emptied the garbages, turned off the heat and locked the doors. What a joy to be done for this season! Camping World is here
Camping World has come to Wagon Trail Campground for several days. We had forgotten this was happening and this evening Mark and I were in our RV when we started hearing voices. Then we heard music and I said to Mark, “It sounds like there’s a television on near us.” We finally realized it was the evening of entertainment on Camping World’s agenda, so I took my camera and headed up to check it out. Fritz-o-rama
With apologies to my readers back home, I’m going to post a bunch of pictures of people you don’t know! This is because today there was a potluck of staff and seasonals and included was a retirement party for a man who hasn’t worked here most of the summer. He had camped and worked here for many years and started the summer with us, but for various reasons he had to retire before the summer even started. Many people here love Fritz so this was his official send-off. Several of those people will be reading this blog, so this one’s for them! (Those of you back home are welcome to read it too, though!) And without further ado, here are the pictures: Continue reading
Music in the courtyard
After work this afternoon Mark and I saw several musicians starting to set up to play in the courtyard outside the office. As they were tuning their instruments I jumped on my bicycle back to our place and grabbed our camera. Continue reading
Quilt show
Kathy watches out for me! Yesterday she told me that the Corner of the Past and the Old Anderson House Museum was having a quilt show because she knows I like to quilt. I didn’t end up making it there yesterday and I thought I’d missed my chance, but Katherine watches out for me too. I saw her in the bathroom this morning and she told me it was on today as well. As soon as Mark and I finished with morning rounds we headed to the museum in Sister Bay. Continue reading
An extreme weekend
I was so extremely busy over the 4th of July weekend that there was no time to write. For one thing, Mark had an eye appointment in Greenbay on Thursday so that took the better part of the day (it’s a four hour drive round trip). We had a lot of campers over the holiday weekend so things were busy on the job. Also, every chance I had to get on my laptop I was working on the report for Mark’s second mock inspection. But there were also some fun activities and I got pictures. Continue reading
An evening at the theater
Yesterday Kathy asked if she could see Mark and me in her office and I thought, “Oh, oh!” However, she only wanted to ask if we’d like to see a free play tonight. She said she and Tim would cover our evening rounds if we wanted to go, so we jumped at the opportunity. Our co-workers, Susan and Cherie also went and we followed them to the theater.
