Looking at houses

Mark and I have been watching Zillow for close to a year, so we sat down at lunchtime with a list of some houses here in Price that we thought we might be interested in. We were just going to drive past them and see what we thought of the neighborhoods. All the houses we looked at in downtown Price were disappointing. They looked small and crowded, and the neighborhoods weren’t very nice. We were about to decide we’d better look in other towns, but we decided to finish the list.

From Price, UT

Yesterday morning, Pastor Adam came and prayed with us before we left. We’re making our trip north for spring; this is the first year I’ve been sad to leave Arizona. In past years, I have been working at Block Advisors, and by now, I would be a nervous wreck with tics and heavy sighs. This winter, I felt like I found my calling, and, as much as I enjoy my job at the Noble House, I don’t feel as fulfilled in Wisconsin as I have this winter.

Stations of the Cross

Several people from my church gathered this afternoon (in 99 F heat) to go to the Degrazia Gallery. Degrazia was an American painter who studied under Diego Rivera. In 1963, he did a series of paintings of the Stations of the Cross that are only brought out during Lent. We weren’t allowed to take pictures of the artwork, but I got photos of some of the other things around the grounds.

Mark’s birthday

Traditionally, we have gone to Tombstone for Mark’s birthday, but yesterday (Friday the 14th) the weather was unseasonably cold. The report said it would be snowy in Tombstone, so we decided to do some indoor things here in Tucson. I put together a treasure map for Mark.

Tucson Refugee Center

For the last few weeks, I’ve been spending a lot of time at the Tucson Refugee Center. It started when Pastor Adam took me there several weeks ago so that I could take a sewing machine I was donating to them. I looked around and saw some other needs.

Hearing and the brain

Last month, Mark learned about a place that could help with tinnitus. The place’s name is Hearing and Brain Centers of America and it’s up north of Phoenix. He’s had tinnitus constantly for many years, so he went in and got tested and found he has Stage 2 hearing loss. They said that tinnitus comes from the brain, not from your hearing, and that it can also lead to Alzheimer’s and dementia. He was given something that is kind of like a hearing aid, only not. They set it at the lowest setting and told him to return in a week for an adjustment.

Merry Christmas, Everybody!

From our RV to your house, Merry Christmas!

I did a couple of readings at my church’s Christmas Eve service this evening. If you’d be interested in hearing th, I do a scripture reading right at the beginning (and there’s a glitch you have to click past), and then Dale reads the Christmas story from Luke 2. After that, I read Paul Harvey’s Christmas story, “The Man and the Birds”. Enjoy!
