When I got to Dad’s house this morning, he was having some problems. He said that he felt weaker than he has before and he was feeling dizzy. He said that if he’s going down this rapidly, he doesn’t think he has long to live.

Continue readingThe week I was staying with Dad and Elaine, I asked my friend, Wendy, if she would like to go see the last 2 episodes of season 4 of The Chosen in the theater with me. I could tell from the way she answered that she would do it for me, but if she were choosing a movie, that wouldn’t be one she would choose. When I moved to Mom’s house, I told her that I was able to get around some with Mom’s car and she didn’t have to see the movie with me, but she said she would still do it. It turned out that the closest theater was only going to be showing it through tomorrow, so we decided this morning to go this afternoon.
Continue readingI mentioned a couple of days ago that when the electricity went off in the house, it fried Mom’s computer. A guy from Geek Squad came over to fix it. I told him that I had tried all the cords and rebooted the modem a couple of times. He looked on the other side of the desk and found a cord, unplugged it, plugged it back in and the computer started. Duh, Denise!

Continue readingThis morning, I asked Mom if I could borrow her car to go get some cereal and she said yes, but I ended up getting more than cereal and was gone longer than Mom had anticipated, so she called me and asked if I was lost. I was just having way too much fun!

Continue readingToday we had a visit from the hospice nurse. His name is Steve. Everyone from hospice has come in wearing a mask, but when he was outside our door, he removed his mask so we could see the face behind the voice!
Continue readingThe first couple of mornings after Dad got home from the hospital, I got up first thing in the morning to start helping to take care of him, but I was getting behind on my quiet time with the Lord, so I have gotten back to spending the first part of my morning in my room reading my Bible and praying. I think that time has been important for self-care and helping me focus on what’s important throughout the day.
