From home!

Thank you to all who prayed for us to make it home safely. Your prayers were answered. We’re home! Let me tell you about our day…

I started this morning by asking the owner of Rustic Barn if I could go inside the chapel. She said that would be fine. I took pictures, but I also took the opportunity to pray that we’d make it home safely today.
I believe God answered.
As we got closer, I started getting excited, and I took more pictures of the things I love.
We always cheer when we see the “Welcome to Door County” sign.

The cherry trees are blooming! Most of the cherry orchards in Door County belong to Seaquist. Cherries are one of the things that Door County is known for.
As we were coming into Ellison Bay, Tucson suddenly caught the familiar scent, and she went nuts!
Mark checked the mail before taking us to the house. We want to get a new lawn this summer to improve our house’s curb appeal. Our neighbor, Karen, who lives in the house you can see, came over to say hi and catch us up on their news, and get ours. She welcomed us back. It’s good to be home!
When we went into the house, I remember doing a bang-up job of cleaning before we left, so why did the house look so messy when we came back? Tucson was just glad to be back. She didn’t care what shape it was in.
This is the first time since we left Tucson (the city) that Tucson (the dog) was able to run around free without a collar or leash!
I did my annual check around the house to see what was growing.
Dobby’s grave in the pet cemetery, this is the second year his headstone has been out in the weather so he’s looking a little spotty.
This was the first winter when Kimba’s gravestone was out all winter. I thought the bleeding hearts over her grave were appropriate.

…and the woods themselves.

So Mark turned on the electricity again. We found out that our thermostat isn’t working, so it’s cold in the house, and we are still staying in the RV. Then he turned the water on and went around to turn on all the faucets in the house. Water came gushing out of the tank in our main bathroom, and we discovered a crack in it from top to bottom. So we can’t use the toilet in that bathroom, but thankfully, there is a toilet in the half bath. Since the toilet in the RV isn’t working, we’ll have to go into the cold house to use the one working toilet. This seems to be par for the course. We always find something broken or some other problem when we come back home in the spring. So for now, we’re still in the RV. But at least we are in our own driveway!
