From Shawnee, OK

Today was still cold, but we had better weather. The sun actually came out!

We stopped at a couple of rest stops along the way.

Coming into Tulsa, OK

I had tried to make a reservation for a hotel in Prague, Oklahoma, but I had a hunch that it wasn’t pet-friendly, so I called ahead and they said they don’t take big dogs or cats. I canceled the reservation and tried looking a little further down the road. At this point, we found ourselves on a toll road and Mark wasn’t very happy about that. When we got up to the toll booth, he told them that he didn’t have any cash on him and that he didn’t want to be on a toll road. They’ll bill us for the money but gave him instructions on how to get onto a free highway.

I finally made reservations at a Super 8 hotel, and when I told them that we had 2 pets, they charged us $20/pet! I had started out with a hotel that was at a reasonable rate and ended up paying $117 for a dump. I wasn’t too happy about that either, but we were tired and it was dark, so we took it.

I miss having an RV and not having to deal with pet fees. The critters aren’t too happy about traveling in the back of the van. Kimba keeps finding new places to hide amongst all our stuff and Mark has to search under everything to try to bring her in at night. This form of travel is not ideal. I can’t wait to reach Tucson!
