From Fallon, NV – a story in pictures

It was a beautiful morning in the KOA in Las Vegas.
Driving through Las Vegas
The first gas station we stopped at this morning didn’t have any window washer and our windshield was all buggy from yesterday. I couldn’t take pictures through all the bugs, so my sweet husband stopped at Walmart and bought some window washing supplies and washed the window right there in the parking lot!
Shadow play in the mountains
Mark admitted to me that he hadn’t worn his seatbelt all day yesterday, so I put him in jail!

We stopped in the middle of nowhere to use the restroom and get some ice cream. Outside the store, we sat in the shade on a picnic bench and enjoyed a conversation with a long-haul trucker about his rescue dogs. When we went back out to the RV, Mark couldn’t get it started. We had gone through a stretch where headlights were required and he forgot to turn the headlights off. We were sitting there wondering what to do when Mark saw a AAA truck pulling into the parking lot. He asked the driver if we could get a jump and the driver said he was there for someone else’s call, but as soon as he finished that, he’d get back to us.

We were just in a wide spot on the road, not much there but the store we stopped at and the fireworks store across the highway.
Jumping the RV

Ten minutes later, he came and jumped our RV. It was a God send! It would have been a long wait if we had called for roadside assistance ourselves, but God provided help just when we needed it!

Back on the road, in Oasis Valley, we saw real trees! It was short-lived though.

A quaint little town
Mom, this was what I was looking at when I called you from a gas station. There’s snow in them thar hills!
The first lake we’ve passed on the whole trip. I thought at first that it was a mirage!
The sun had set and the sky was reflecting on a shallow pond we passed, but my camera had slowed down because it was so dark out. Trust me, it was a beautiful sight!

We had hoped to make it to Reno by tonight, but with that unexpected stop while waiting to get our battery jumped, we were running behind. It was already dark as we were trying to find our way into the Naval Air Station famcamp in Fallon, Nevada. We were very happy they had a place for us to spend the night!

  1. I’m grateful to hear about the God send Triple A guy!
We’re going to fly to Vegas and drive up near Zion National Park mid-May. So, it has been interesting to see your views from the road!
