Fortunately, we didn’t have to drive as long today. This was fortunate because we had to load everything up again after several days of being able to spread out a bit. We stopped in briefly at the Workamper News office to thank them for the conference and then we tried to take a different route out of Heber Springs.
Unfortunately, we made the mistake of following the GPS a couple times when we shouldn’t have. We ended up back on narrow, windy, steep hills. Mark said that when we come to the conference next year we aren’t going to take the RV into Heber Springs. He’s thinking we’ll park the RV in Little Rock and commute to the conference in our truck. Poor guy!
When we got to Poplar Bluff, MO we stopped first to get groceries and gas at a Walmart close to our campground. We parked near the gas station at the edge of the Walmart parking lot and walked back to the store to get the groceries. When we got back to the RV Mark put the groceries away while I checked into a problem our card had had in the store. (Even though I called them last week and told them we were going to be traveling, the fraud department cut off our card!)
Once that was straightened out, we pulled over to the gas station. Mark got out to pump the gas and a man brought Dobby over to him. Apparently the door had been ajar momentarily and Dobby had gotten out. The man said that he saw Dobby sitting under our RV before we pulled over to the gas station. Dobby could have been flattened if he hadn’t stayed put in between the tires! Fortunately he waited there long enough that the man was able to catch him and bring him back to us. Thank You, Lord! Bad boy, Dobby!
But again, since we had a shorter drive today we got to our campsite by mid-afternoon. This is good because on those narrow, windy, steep roads, one of our cats got car sick and threw up on our bed. Fortunately, we had a somewhat leak proof blanket on the bed so all we had to do was remove the blanket and wash it. It’s also fortunate that this campground has a laundry room on site. It is, however, unfortunate that there is a sign in the laundry room that says they don’t allow campers to wash pet things in the machines. Not to worry…I washed our clothes here and Mark took the pet things to the laundromat in town. (This is starting to sound like one of those “That’s good/that’s bad” stories!)
Here are a few pictures from today:
I had thought that Cal’s radiation treatment was going to begin today so I called Mom to see how it went. She said that he hasn’t been scheduled for the treatments yet. He has an appointment on Thursday to talk with the doctor about where and when to schedule them. In the meantime, he and Mom took a walk this afternoon. She said he is seeming more like his old self. He still doesn’t have an appetite, but he knows he needs to eat so he does. At any rate, he seems to be springing back quickly from his surgery. Thank you all for your prayers!
