Whew! Hot!

In Price today, the high was 41°. The temperature in the RV today in Arizona got up to 82°. I’m not used to this! Neither are Mark and the dogs. Price has been a holy terror on this trip, eating everything he can get into, including our chocolate. That’s not supposed to be good for dogs, but nothing seems to faze him!

Here are some more pictures from today:

Heading out from Tuba City, AZ, this morning, we were on fairly flat land, but we could see mountains ahead.
This was going to be a climb up to Flagstaff.
As Mark said, “What goes up must come down.”
We only made one rest stop, and this was the view from up there!
Green!
As we came out of the mountains, we finally saw saguaros.
This peak is a familiar one somewhere between Phoenix and Tucson.

By the time we got close to Tucson, both dogs were sleeping in the heat, and I opened my window. We had no sooner hit the northern border of Pima County than Tucson became alert and started watching the road ahead. When we took the Ina Rd exit off the highway, she became very intent, and the moment she saw the Block Advisors office I used to work at, she started getting excited. She would whimper, then run back to the door, then back up to the front, and the whole cycle would begin again. She knew where she was. Price was only here for a couple of weeks last fall, so he didn’t know what was going on, but he wanted to be with Tucson. She just found him to be in her way every time she turned around to run back to the door. Finally, we turned into the driveway at NW Community Friends Church, and she could barely contain herself until Mark stopped and let the dogs out. Mark was tired from the long drive, and I had a headache, but Tucson was so happy to be back! We’re glad to be back, too, but nothing can compare to Tucson’s enthusiasm for her birthplace!
