Thank you to everyone who has been sending me birthday wishes today! I haven’t written since Mark and I arrived at my mother’s house because I have been having trouble getting on the internet, so I’m using Mom’s computer tonight. I have pictures!
This is still left over from our trip to Mom’s house. This is Multnomah Falls in the Columbia River Gorge. This is Morris the Moose. Mark and I got him on our honeymoon in Canada in 2008 and he’s gone everywhere with us since. This is the birthday present Mom and Lauryn got for me. I can’t wait to get home and put it together! It’s already giving me some quilting ideas. ;-DMom took us to her favorite restaurant, Norma’s, in Seaside. Both Mom and Mark made sure the waitresses knew it was my birthday, so they brought me a bowl of ice cream with a candle in it and sang happy birthday to me. They gave us 3 spoons so that Mom and Mark could have some too. Then Mom took us across the street to get ice cream cones!Another famous site in Oregon is Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach.Tucson went nuts and ran Mark all over the beach! There were mostly seagulls on the beach, but there were also these birds that looked like pelicans.Mark had a few opportunities to take pictures when Tucson wasn’t pulling him around behind her.I’ve never seen a kite like this before. It looked like a plane and the front propeller was spinning in the wind! While we were walking on the beach, Mom made herself this clever little bench and sat next to a wall for warmth. I thought that was brilliant! You’d never know she’s 95.We went through Cannon Beach to look at the shops from the car because my foot was hurting and Mom was tired……but Mark went into Bruce’s Candy Kitchen and got some Jelly Belly’s……and some saltwater taffy! Then we rode up into an old-growth forest called Ecola State Park. The view from up thereWhile we were in the park, we also drove over to Indian Beach, one of Mark’s and my favorite places on the coast!Driving back down from the park I took this picture and got a rainbow effect from the sun in my lens.Mom and Tucson are best buds now!
A good time was had by all!
Some folks have been asking about my ankle. I saw an orthopedic doctor yesterday who did another set of X-rays of my ankle and said that what the doctor in Price, UT said was a chipped bone is a sliver of bone that’s been pulled away from the rest of the bone by a torn ligament. He said a better term for what I have is a badly sprained ankle. It’s swollen and bruised, but he said he wants me to stop using the crutches and start using my foot. It needs pressure in order to heal. He gave me a lace-up ankle brace and said that when the swelling goes down, I can wear it inside a regular shoe for a few weeks. Until the swelling goes down, I’m using the brace inside my “boot”. It’s good to be done with the crutches because they were hurting my hands, but it’s not altogether comfortable walking on my foot yet. I look forward to getting back home and into a normal routine again!
