From Cedar Rapids, IA

One more day on the road after this and we’ll be home! Mark can’t wait to get back to his Harley and BACA. I can’t wait to get back to more spacious living!

This morning, I was marveling at how green Nebraska is compared to southern Wyoming. I also noticed how flat it is!
It took a big chunk of today to get across Nebraska. It’s a long state!

Nebraska was so flat that I didn’t take many pictures. Instead, I started reading another book to Mark: Soul Harvest, part of the Left Behind series written by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, the father of Dallas Jenkins who created and directs The Chosen.

“The people of IOWA welcome you”

Can you see those green lines on the hills on the horizon? Iowa is more hilly than Nebraska, so the farmers do something that reminds me of Asia’s rice paddies. They build terraces where they have a ledge made of grass in front of each flat area on the hill. They aren’t all necessarily straight across as the ones in this picture are. I saw fields where they simply followed the contours of the hills with these grassy patches between to stop water from eroding the land. It’s pretty ingenious!

We saw a fair number of wind farms too.
This is one of the blades from a windmill, just to give you an idea of the size!

You can see that the weather was pretty nice all day and temperatures were in the 70s, but it started to rain when we pulled into the Walmart we’re staying tonight.

Not much more to report for today.
