Touring Door County: Ellison Bay

Judy, the President of the Wisconsin denisefuller.com Fan Club, has recommended a couple times that I visit Seaquist in Ellison Bay.  We did that today as well as seeing several other sites.  But first, I have a picture from last night:

We had a thunderstorm last night that almost reminded me of Oklahoma thunder storms.  It was one long rumble for several hours, punctuated by occasional crashes.  The rain came down so hard that it began to cover the rug we have under our awning.  Still we made our evening rounds, but for once we took the truck instead of our bicycles.  I was able to take this photo through a place on the windshield of our RV where it was coming down in sheets rather than drops.

That may look like the shiny edge of a cloud, but it's a lightning bolt through rain!

Today was actually sunny and breezy and quite nice after the deluge, so we did some sight seeing.  Here are some shots of Ellison Bay:

We had lunch at the Mink River Basin.

This building is across the street from where we had lunch. We went to see if it was open, but there was a lock on the door.

The chairs and the flower baskets on the front porch sure made it look like it should be open though.

Then we stopped in at the Silly Goose and had a look around. They had some pretty things.

We finally got to Seaquist and looked around.

Door County is famous for it's cherries and this orchard is right next door to Seaquist. Seaquist has all sorts of cherry products: salsas, syrups, jams, pie fillings, cherry fudge, cherry donuts...

After touring town, we went back to the country.  I love to walk into a field and notice all the different kinds of wildflowers:

Day lilies again. Were they planted or are they wild?

I think these are asters. I have a brochure about Door County wildflowers and I'm checking them off as I see each of the ones they have pictured!

I'm not sure what this is, but I see it around a lot.

This looks a little like Queen Ann's Lace. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Why doesn't my brochure tell what these are?

And one final word…Happy birthday, Kathy!  You are special and Mark and I hope you got back the joy you give to your employees and campers every day!
