We are finally in Oregon, and tomorrow we should be at Champoeg State Park near where my mother lives. I’m so excited!
See how excited I am?
Today, we drove through many mountains. I am always impressed with how well Mark handles driving through all sorts of weather and altitudes.
We went back across the Snake River heading north. We left Walmart at 8:30 this morning.I’ve been trying to keep my foot elevated most of the time we’re on the road.We stopped at a rest stop that had stuff about the Oregon Trail. After this rest stop, we crossed into Pacific Time, and we gained an hour. The Blue Mountains — no, really, that’s what they’re called! Maybe it’s because they look blue from a distance.Tucson likes to see where we’re going, too!Coming down Cabbage Hill. Cabbage Hill is a notoriously steep grade for truckers. Mark would have preferred to take the car off the back and have me drive behind him, but with my boot, he buckled down and took it slowly down the hill and kept control of the RV. I’m so proud of him! Finally approaching the bottom of Cabbage Hill
We stopped at a KOA in Pendleton where we’ve stayed before, and I asked Mark to take some pictures of the view from here. This is what he brought back:
I don’t know if you can see the curved road at the base of the mountains in the center of this picture, but that’s part of the road that came down off Cabbage Hill.Mark took a series of shots that could make a panoramic view if I had the capability of putting one together.
So there you have it! We arrived in Pendleton at 3:15, thanks to the time change. That’s always nice. It’s been a very eventful and expensive leg of the journey with the car breaking down and me ending up in the ER twice. Hopefully, things will settle down when we get to Mom’s place!
