So much has happened since the last time I wrote, but I’ve been too busy and too exhausted to write until now.
Mark and I planned to have a date on October 26th after a Trunk or Treat event that BACA was participating in in Sturgeon Bay. Here are some pictures of the event:

The event came to a close and Mark and I were preparing to go to the car to start our date when I suddenly realized I had accidentally locked my purse and keys in the car. Serious George asked if we needed him to stay, but there wasn’t anything he could help with, so we sent him on home. I called Good Sam Roadside Service and the guy who responded said he’d be there in an hour and a half. He was coming from Manitowoc which was the closest locksmith Good Sam used. We ended up spending that time in a nearby gas station where it was warm, and when he called, we went back to our car. He got us back into our car, but by then, the place Mark and I had wanted to go was closed. See what I mean about every other date flopping? :- \
The following weekend, we finally made it to the Pioneer Pantry in Brussels (southern Door County). That little store was mentioned in my quilt group because the owner bought out 2 fabric stores and he was selling the fabrics for lower than the usual price. He also had a little bit of everything else in his store. I bought the remainder of a bolt of fabric for $9 and Mark found a pair of binoculars he wanted. I would be interested in going again next year!
My last day of work was October 28th at the Welcome Center—my last day ever! Although I’m retiring from that job, I will still work at the Noble House next year. On the 29th, Destination Door County, the organization that oversees all the welcome centers in Door County, had its annual gathering to celebrate the end of the tourist season for 2024!

Mickie got me a present from the Turtle Ridge Gallery – a new handbag!

I don’t have many more pictures because I was so busy getting ready for our trip. I spent about a week thoroughly cleaning the house. I don’t know why I was so inspired to do that; I don’t think it’s been so clean since we got Tucson. Mark cleaned out the garage so he could put his motorcycles and T-bird in for the winter. He cleaned up the yard and put the yard tools away. I cleaned our RV and Mark took everything out of our old RV where Rukiye spent the summer. She found a house to move into closer to her job. It was getting too cold in the RV anyway and she’s very happy in her new room! We still plan to have the old RV towed away, preferably before we return next spring. We packed our new RV and moved into it for a few days so that we could finish cleaning the house and winterizing it.
Then on the 6th, we hooked up my car on the back of the RV and rode out. We were only going to Milwaukee the first night, but we got a late start and arrived later than planned. Kader and Zak had made dinner and were waiting for us. We finally arrived and had a lovely evening with them, talking about their Turkish wedding and looking at videos and pictures of the reception. The actual marriage was done out in the street. A friend of Kader’s took a video of the ceremony but I wasn’t able to copy and insert it here, so I added the pictures as screenshots:

Yesterday, we got what we thought was a fairly early start, but we didn’t get to the RV park we had reservations for in Eagleville, MO until after 8:00 last evening. The campground owners at Eagle Ridge RV Park called us to make sure we were still coming and we told them we were. When we got to the campground, it was so dark that Mark missed the first driveway into the park. As he was sitting there trying to figure out how to back up to it, the owner came out with a flashlight and told him that there was a second driveway a few feet ahead. Mark drove slowly until he could see it and he pulled in. To our surprise, the man was still out there with his flashlight and he walked ahead of us and showed us where our campsite was. It was really cold out, so we were impressed. There was a problem with our electricity when we went to bed, so Mark couldn’t use his CPAP machine, but when we woke up this morning, the owner had fixed the problem. We looked out the windows and saw a beautiful view. We will try to remember to return to that campground next year!
This morning, we got an earlier start and we didn’t make as many stops as we did yesterday. We came through pouring rain most of the day but we still got to Ramblin’ Rose RV Park in Meade, KS by 6:15. That has given me time to finally write, but now it’s bedtime and I’m exhausted!
