Fall Fest

We are in peak color for autumn, so Mark and I went leaf-peeping for our date today.

This is a tree on our road that I love to see in the fall.
We started at the Liberty Grove Historical Society (LGHS).
That’s the bay of Ellison Bay that Mark is photographing from the grounds of the LGHS.

We had to take a detour around Sister Bay because this weekend is Fall Fest and the highway is closed through town.
We went for lunch at Bayside Tavern in Fish Creek and I shot this picture of the Noble House and the park across the street.
After lunch, we walked over to the marina in Fish Creek.
Mark is over on the other pier. We did the thing of taking a picture of each other at the same time!

We went to Eagle Tower in Peninsula State Park between Fish Creek and Ephraim. I didn’t realize my camera was on a setting that made everything look like a cartoon, but I kind of like it.

We took a selfie with my phone partway up the ramp.

This was a 6-week-old baby whose parents took advantage of the beautiful weather to take him up the tower.
Back down to our car
We stopped at a sandy beach in Ephraim.

Everyone went looking for the windy road. We talked with someone from Poland, saw women in saris, and I saw a Japanese couple. Our windy road between Gills Rock and Northport is world-famous!
We drove to Northport at the tip of the peninsula and watched the ferry come in. You can see the lighthouse on Plum Island.
This is the lighthouse on Pilot Island that has become a cormorant sanctuary. There are so many over there that they’ve killed the trees with their guana and I’m told the island is toxic.
This is the dock the old man drove off a couple of weeks ago.
Mark said he’d rate this date a 90%. He had as much fun photographing as I did!
Our last stop was to watch the sunset in Gills Rock – the perfect way to end a perfect day!

  1. The only thing wrong with our date was that the NFL game was on with the Green Bay Packers in the restaurant we had lunch at and the viewers cheered very loudly whenever something good happened.
