Mark and I are continuing our out-of-the-ordinary dates on weekends. The one in between the barn quilts date, we were going to go to the drive-in theater in Fish Creek for a movie, but they weren’t playing anything that Mark was interested in, so we went to a movie theater in Sturgeon Bay instead and watched the movie Reagan. Yesterday, we both played hooky from church and went to a car show down in Sturgeon Bay.
These were the cars that were there when we first arrived. Mark headed over to have a look.Checking out the engine.Looking at the engine of a beautiful red Chevrolet.I had actually seen this blue Chevrolet delivery station wagon driving by the Noble House on Saturday. Mark estimates it’s from somewhere between 1955-1957.This was a nice looking 1967 Pontiac.Mark has started a new campaign for the American Cancer Society where he plans to post one picture per day throughout October on a website he created. If you’re interested in viewing it and possibly supporting the ACS, you can go to https://www.facebook.com/donate/532509162736879/.It was a very windy day. At one point, a gust came up that almost blew me over! This seagull was also checking out the cars! All the guys came over to check out this 1967 Chevy El Camino.More cars kept coming in all the time. This is a 1957 Plymouth Belvedere Fury. This is a black 1957 Chevrolet Bel Aire. This model of car was the first car Mark took over 100 mph in 1969. This was Mark’s favorite in the show. This car owner said he has owned this Willys from the early 50’s for 50 years! This is a 1935 Chevrolet.Old car enthusiasts form their own sort of community. A man drove up wearing a neck brace, and one of the women called him by name and asked, “How are you feeling?”Several times, I saw owners shining up their already shiny cars, like this woman with her 1967 Chevrolet Malibu. We went inside Waterfront Mary’s (where we spent our first out-of-the-ordinary date) to have brunch. This “bird” with a Harley body was right outside our window as we ate.We watched more cars come in as we ate. This is a 1968 Ford Mustang. This is a Pontiac from the mid-70’s.This is a 1977 Chevrolet.I’ve saved my favorite for last.
