Barn Quilts

I have been really down this summer. You can blame it on grief over Dad’s passing, but it just seems like everything has been a disappointment. I just didn’t feel like writing much or doing much. I think I’m beginning to get my head above water this week. Mark and I recently decided we would have an unusual date every weekend. Today, we drove around Door County looking for barn quilts.

Mark and I started the date by having lunch at a restaurant in Bailey’s Harbor that’s next to Lake Michigan.
This one wasn’t on the map we were using. I think the lines around the sailboat are ship’s flags.
Farmer’s Puzzle
Flying Geese
Wisconsin Star – This is on the University of Wisconsin Peninsular Research Station. They have a public garden here.
This was also a bonus barn quilt that wasn’t on the map. The corners are Nine Patches. The center is some sort of floral design.
Tennessee Star
54-40 or Fight
Hawaiian Quilt Blocks
Four Flags – This one was hard to get because a light pole is close to the barn.
Crazy Quilt
Double Aster
Tree of Life
Duck Feet – This barn appears to be being deconstructed. Every time I’ve passed it before, it had walls and it was a craft barn. I often thought of stopping in to see if it had crafts in it, but I guess I missed my chance.

There are still many barn quilts we didn’t get to, but this gives you an idea of what they are.
