Today was our last day of travel. Yess!!! We have enjoyed the trip, but we are ready to settle down for a few months now. So are our cats!
I don’t have to tell you, we’ve been a little nervous about our new job. We prayed before we left St Augustine this morning that this place would be a good experience for us.
We just barely had time to get set up before it got dark. The woman at the booth had handed us a couple magazines, one of which lists all the activities in the park this winter. I was drooling as I went through that one. When Mark finished hooking us up outside, he asked if this place has a restaurant. It does. In fact, this place is like a small, self-contained city!
We drove over to the restaurant, and as we were getting out of our truck, a man asked Mark about his Harley. This man also owns a Harley, so Mark asked him where he can get some work done on his Harley. (This trip has not been kind to his bike.) The man recommended a place that is apparently only a couple miles away. We found out that the man is one of the chefs at the restaurant, so he led us to the entrance. He had found out that we are new staff, so he told us we get a 50% discount at the restaurant!
As you can see, we were in our shirt sleeves, even after dark. It got up close to 80° today. We will probably leave our windows open all night.
After dinner, we decided to look around just the restaurant area and see what all is there.
There are all kinds of classes that sound interesting, including a quilt group, praise line dance to gospel music, a writing group, a photography club, and much, much more. They have a church right here on the grounds and two different Bible studies, plus A Course in Miracles. Tomorrow we hope to go to the Welcome Newcomers gathering. I hope we’ll also be able to figure out where to go to find out what our work schedule will be so we can see what all we can fit into our schedule. This could be fun!
