What a beautiful day! I mean, it was cloudy, but kind of picturesque. There is a lot of water in South Carolina, not the least of which is the Atlantic Ocean. We’ve been near the Atlantic Ocean before, but this is the first time we got our feet wet in it. I have pictures:
We passed lots of lakes and swamps.
I loved this tree lined street!
This was the bridge from the mainland to Edisto Island.
Coming into the state park where we will be camped the next few nights.
This bush is behind our RV. Beyond it is swampland.
The sky looked like it had a zipper running across it!
A beach flower
Another beach flower
Our RV is parked right next to the beach. In fact, we could hear the tide as we were setting up. We decided to take a walk on the beach.
The upper part of the beach is covered with shells.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think this is a sandpiper.
Here’s a clearer shot of their coloring.
Footprints in the sand
Mark got caught by a sneaker wave.
Fortunately, he had fairly waterproof boots.
I was a bit more cautious about getting my foot into the Atlantic Ocean.
A couple shells in the retreating waves
I can’t remember for sure, but I think waves in the Pacific Ocean are bigger than they are in the Atlantic Ocean.
Clouds over the deep blue sea
Even though the sun doesn’t set over the Atlantic, there was still a glorious sunset!
Another beach flower on our way back
We stopped to look up in this palm tree because we could hear a woodpecker, but we couldn’t see it.
The view out behind our RV
There are signs around our campground asking us to keep lights off the beach as much as possible so they won’t confuse the turtles. We pulled our night shades and turned off the porch light, doing our part for nature!
