Odds and ends

I was told tonight that I need to post a new blog entry.  I don’t have anything earthshaking to report, but here’s what’s been going on and why my posts have been a bit more sparse lately:

  1. I spent well over a week planning our trip between here and our next job.  We’ve got from October 20th till mid-December to galavant around the country and I’ve spent hours locating campgrounds that are open at this time of year.  I’ve contacted friends and family that will be within range of our travels and arranged to spend time with as many of them as possible.  If all goes according to plan, by the time we arrive in Sarasota, Florida for our next job, there will only be four continental states we will not have spent at least one night in, and I think we can hit those four on our way back here next spring.  Be watching as of October 20th for a whirlwind tour of the eastern half of the United States!
  2. I am beginning to get short-timer’s syndrome.  My body knows that the end is near and all the fatigue from this summer is catching up to me.  Plus we haven’t been doing much exploring for the last few weeks.  All work and no play makes Denise a dull girl.  I’m looking forward to our trip!
  3. I’ve been working on the quilt-in-a-bag that I bought at the thrift store Judy took us to several weeks ago.  I’m about halfway done.  There are twelve applique blocks.  I have never really done applique before so I’m trying to teach myself.  The first applique I did, I thought I needed to clip corners and curves the way I do on garments, but that made a bit of a mess.  Each applique block has been somewhat of an improvement, but I sure wish I had someone experienced to teach me.  I’ll take a picture of it to show you when I finish.
  4. There’s also some family things going on that I’m not ready to talk about yet, but prayers for my family would be appreciated.

Other minor things to report are:

  • …that I developed a reaction to a new medication this last week and before I realized what it was and stopped taking the medication, I was a little concerned about my health.  Fortunately the effects are wearing off and I still have my old medication that works much better.
  • I’ve also been realizing I can’t ride my bike in the dark.  I get disoriented and lose my balance, so Mark is going to start getting the golf cart for our evening rounds.
  • And finally, the weather has been windy and chilly the last few days.  Surprisingly, the leaves are being slow to change color.  I have been assured that they will turn color before we leave here.  I’ll get pictures to send if I can.
