A day apart and coming together again

Mark spent the entire day on his Harley, going to Green Bay to get new tires and then stopping at the Wisconsin Motorcycle Memorial.  When he returned it was dinner time so we went out to Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant & Butik in Sister Bay.  Here are images from today:

By the time Mark got home from Green Bay he needed gas, so before we went out to dinner we stopped for gas.  While he was filling the tank, I went over to look at some bushes, and he said they matched my helmet so he took a picture:

You may remember Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant & Butik from a previous picture I took:

This was our first time eating here and we enjoyed it very much!

I had the Orchard Salad which included grapes, strawberries, raspberries, apples, dried cherries, and pecans with lingonberry vinaigrette. Heavenly!

After dinner we wandered around the Butik.  Mark got me a pair of furry mittens and himself an Ole and Lena joke book.  But he had fun even before he got the joke book:

When they closed we walked across the street to the marina to watch the sun set:

As the sun started going down there was an unusual phenomenon that our small camera couldn’t capture adequately.  (We left our better camera at home.)  The sun was a bright red color, and as it came nearly to the horizon we could see darker bands across it.  We were wondering what it was we were seeing until we realized that the sun was setting behind a thin band of cloud.  In this picture you can just barely see the effect on the lower edge of the sun.

This picture doesn't do it justice. :-(
