I hadn’t realized it’s been a week since I last blogged, but there didn’t seem to be much to blog about. Looking back over the week I realized we have actually done a fair amount this week. I’ve been working on learning how to operate some software and hardware for our business, but more importantly, some improvements have been made to our RV.
I don’t remember if I mentioned that ever since before Thanksgiving we’ve been having trouble with our front door. For a day or two we had to use the driver-side door to get in and out, which was no small feat considering the RV was propped up on blocks. The reason we had to use that door was that the lock on the front door broke and we couldn’t get it open. Mark and one of our supervisors finally pried it open and we’ve been having to use a vise grip to pull the door in from the inside, and the door wouldn’t just shut, we had to lock it. Mark managed to find another door handle mechanism that would fit our door and he put that in. The really lovely thing is that most of the time we’ve had this RV I haven’t been able to open the door by myself. With the new door handle I can!
We’ve never really warmed up to this RV because it has so little storage space. A few days ago Mark pulled the bottom cushions off our couch and was reminded that we had a hide-a-bed in there, but when he pulled it out, the mattress was just gross. It was stained and had holes in it. We would never put company on that, so Mark figured out how to remove the hide-a-bed. The mattress went to the dumpster and the frame went to a local thrift store. Then Mark got some wood at Home Depot and built a storage space into our couch. Ingenious!

You remember Mark’s window shattered as we were driving down through Canada? We had tried to have it fixed in Montana, but the insurance company ordered the wrong kind of window. Well, we finally got a new window put in today. And guess what? It was put in by a woman with her 80-something aunt assisting!
