From Pendleton, OR

Mark suggested I stay at Mom’s house last night, and then he would pick me up this morning to start heading home. Oh, the best laid plans of mice and men…

While we were waiting for Mark to come, Mom asked me if I would go with her to the bottle recycling place. We were a little confused when we went in, and a woman in there explained how it worked. Mom was going to go back to her car to get the bottles, but she didn’t notice that there was a curb, and before I knew it, she was falling in the parking lot on her arm and knees. I ran out to check her out and help her up. She said she was fine, but when we got in the car to go back to her place, I noticed blood on my jacket, and I knew I wasn’t bleeding. We got her home, and I asked her to take off her long-sleeved shirt and her long pants, and sure enough, she was bleeding from her left arm and her right knee. I contacted my sister about it (she was on her way up anyway), and she told me to take Mom to Urgent Care. Fortunately, Mom hadn’t broken anything, but she has to use a prescription antibiotic on the wounds for the next couple of weeks. By the time we got back to her house, Mark was there. He got us some lunch because it was already mid-afternoon, and when we finished lunch, my sister and her husband arrived. I hugged Mom and told her I love her before we left.

My sister sent this picture of Mom with peas on her knees this evening. I told her that sounded like Dr Seuss!

We stopped in Arlington for a potty break and saw this mountain full of goats!
We got a late start this afternoon, so even though we only had a 3 1/2 hour drive to Pendleton, we didn’t get here until 9:30 this evening.

It’s late and I’m going to bed now. Good night!
