It’s ours!

Last weekend I finally announced that Mark and I were in the process of buying a house.  We just had some finances to come up with before it would be ours.  I had saved $3200 toward the closing costs, but they amounted to $5600.  My older sister, Sherill, gave me $1400, but I still needed another $1000.

My BFF from high school, Wendy Scharich, wrote and asked me if she could help.  I had a time crunch going.  I had asked my financial adviser to take $1000 out of my IRA, but it wasn’t going to arrive in time, so I took Wendy up on her offer.  We both had to learn how to wire money.  Wendy figured it out first.  Her money got to the title company’s bank on the very day our locked in interest rate was about to expire, thus saving our lower interest rate.  The next day, I managed to get my part sent and it got there yesterday morning, the deadline before I would have had to go through the whole signing again at extra expense.  Our God loves nail-biters!  🙂

We are now officially home owners.  When we get there in late April, this will be the first time in nearly five years that we will have roots.  God has blessed us beyond all measure!

One of the first things I want to do is dedicate the house to the Lord.  Years ago, I participated in a house dedication where the home owners asked me to come up with verses appropriate to each room and I liked the idea so much, I want to do it in our house.  This morning as I was reading my devotions, I came across a verse for the dining room:

There, in the presence of the Lord your God, you and your families shall eat and rejoice in everything you have put your hand to, because the Lord your God has blessed you.  (Deuteronomy 12:7)

When I told my mother what I want to do, she asked how I was going to display the verses and she suggested I get them done in calligraphy.  Do any of my readers out there know how to do calligraphy?
